Post, Tag & Follow - Social Media
We strongly encourage you to follow your legislators on their all of their social media platforms. You can also tag them on specific issues when you post on social media.
Often, their caucus page will highlight key issues and link to their contact info.
On social media, legislators post news media pieces that discuss their bills, ask their constituents for feedback through legislative surveys, and post upcoming events (listening tours, etc.).
The best way to gather social media contacts and additional information for a legislator is to visit their “Caucus Page.”
Also, a good hashtag to use and search is #INlegis which helps anything statehouse related get noticed and shared.
If you don’t know who your state legislators are, click “find your legislator”
What should I say?
Check our Facebook page for current calls to action. We will try to help you by providing the key points, bill numbers and who to contact. Here is a basic template you can use for a social media post. Make sure to include a picture for the most impact.
SOCIAL MEDIA POST TEMPLATE:
I am an Indiana [CAREGIVER/CARE RECIPIENT/SUPPORTER] from [CITY/TOWN], urging the #INLegis to #ProtectFamilyCaregivers who care for loved ones with profound disabilities. FSSA’s policy changes are devastating families who depend on essential caregiving services.
✅ We need:
#RestoreCaregiverAccess
#FundMedicaid
#SupportIndianaFamilies
#ListenToFamilies
FSSA must engage with caregiving families, consider the real-world impacts of their policies, and collaborate on solutions that ensure stability and dignity. Caregiving families deserve policies that reflect their lived experiences and prioritize people, not cost-cutting.
